Stainless steel fabrication

Stainless steel is about more than corrosion resistance — it's about appearance. Architectural stainless work needs clean lines, smooth welds and a consistent finish that holds up over years of touch. We fabricate balustrades, handrails, kitchen components, shopfit elements and commercial fit-out pieces in 304 and 316 stainless, with TIG welding, dressing and finishing to match the application.

The difference between a stainless fabricator and a good one is in the details. A weld that's not dressed properly will discolour. A surface that's not cleaned after welding will rust at the joint. A brush finish that's not consistent across parts will look patchy. We take care of all of it — prep, weld, dress, clean, finish — so the finished stainless work looks the way it should.

What we make in stainless

Balustrades

Glass balustrade systems, wire balustrades, handrail systems for commercial and residential.

Handrails

Stainless tube handrails, wall-mounted rails, stair handrails, interior and exterior.

Kitchen & Fit-out

Bench bases, splashbacks, canopies, shelf brackets and commercial kitchen components.

Architectural Details

Cladding panels, trims, fins, brackets and custom architectural stainless elements.

304 vs 316 — which grade?

304 stainless is the standard grade for interior and most exterior commercial work. It handles normal atmospheric conditions, kitchen environments and general architectural use. It's the right choice for handrails, balustrades, shopfit work and indoor features.

316 stainless has added molybdenum for better corrosion resistance, especially in coastal or chlorinated environments. If your stainless work is near the coast, around a pool, or in a high-corrosion setting, 316 is the grade to use. We'll advise you on the right grade for your environment.

Stainless fabrication process

We cut stainless on the fibre laser (clean, oxide-free edges), bend on the press brake, and TIG weld with proper shielding gas. Welds are dressed smooth, then the surface is finished to the required grain — brushed, satin, mirror or bead-blasted. We avoid carbon steel contamination by keeping stainless work on dedicated tools and clean surfaces. The result is stainless that stays bright and clean, not grey and rust-spotted.

Grade selection: 304 for interior and general exterior, 316 for coastal, pool and washdown environments. We won't upsell you on 316 when 304 will do.

Stainless finishes we offer

The finish on stainless is part of the design. We offer brushed (satin) finish for a consistent, non-reflective look that hides fingerprints — the most common choice for architectural stainless. Polished (mirror) finish for high-end architectural or commercial applications. Bead-blasted for a matte, uniform surface. And we can match an existing finish if you're matching surrounding stainless work.

Stainless fabrication common mistakes

The most common stainless problems are contamination (carbon steel tools leaving traces that rust later), wrong grade (304 where 316 is needed), and poor weld dressing (discoloured welds that show through the finish). We avoid all three: dedicated tools for stainless, correct grade selection, and careful weld dressing and finishing. Your stainless work will stay looking right for years, not months.
